Williams stepped down from the position and was sworn in Friday as a Circuit Judge in Southern Kentucky.
Robert Stivers of Manchester is the Senate Majority Leader.
He's announced he wants the job and now says he hopes he'll be unopposed.
Senate president Pro Tem Katie Stine says she won't run.
Stine says she plans to support Stivers.
