Kentucky's Secretary of State Elaine Walker finished radiation treatment for breast cancer and says she is cancer-free.

Walker was diagnosed in October after a routine mammogram.

Her office says she underwent surgery followed by twice-daily radiation treatments for five straight days.

The 60-year-old former Bowling Green Mayor was appointed Secretary of State this year.

She lost her bid for a full term in the May primary election.

Governor Beshear has since appointed her to be the State's Parks Commissioner.

Walker will take on her new role January 2nd.
