Animal rights activists are upset about a proposal that would allow dogs to be used to chase black bears.
Animal rights activists are upset about a proposal that would allow dogs to be used to chase black bears.

The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission could vote on the change as soon as next month.

It would create a season of about six-weeks starting in August where hunters could chase bears but not kill them.

The proposal also includes another limited season in December where hunters could shoot the bears that their dogs bay.

The Humane Society of the United States criticizes chasing bears with hounds as cruel and unsporting.
