Natural disasters can happen anywhere and anytime.

And when they do, the Kentucky Air National Guard is ready to go.

On Monday, ABC 36 News was given unprecedented access to go along on a training mission with the 123rd Airlift Wing out of Louisville.

This elite unit is part of FEMA's first responders.

You can watch how it played out by clicking here.

And don't miss the second part of this special series Wednesday night on ABC 36 News at 11.

We'll show you what happened when the C-130 transport plane touched down in its drill.
