Kentucky American Water customers could see their rates go up, even before the Public Service Commission gives its approval.

The company says it has to raise rates to pay for expenses since 2010.

So what should customers expect with the increase?

The company says a customer paying $32.75 now would see their bill go up to $38.51.

That's an increase of $5.76.

If the PSC decides to reduce the size of the increase Kentucky American says customers will get refunds.
