KU Reports All-Time High Energy Usage

Kentucky Utilities said an all-time high was set for energy demand during Monday night's sub-zero temperatures.

Monday's peak of 5,027 megawatts broke the previous record of 4,640 megawatts, set on January 16, 2009.

They said from midnight Sunday until Monday morning, then from Monday night until Tuesday morning, the number of megawatt hours of electricity being used passed the 100,000 mark for the first time, reaching 102,613.

The old record of 97,321 megawatt hours was hit on January 8, 2010.
