KU And LG&E Warn Of Scam

The company says someone has been posing as a utility worker and asking customers to make a bill payment over the phone or in person.
Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company is alerting customers of a new telephone scam where a caller claims to be a utility employee and asks for bill payment over the phone or in person, and threatens to disconnect electric or natural gas service if they do not cooperate.

LG&E and KU said they will never call and ask for credit or debit card numbers or other personal information. They warn customers that if anyone shows up at their door saying they are with the company to ask for positive identification.

The company said anyone who is affected by the scam should contact police.
