KSP Starts 'Operation Holiday Lights'

State police will be out in full force across Kentucky looking for aggressive drivers and broken down vehicles through the holiday season.
Kentucky State Police started their "Operation Holiday Lights" Wednesday night, trying to stem the amount of aggressive drivers on roadways.

Police say despite bad weather, some motorists don't slow down and drive safer but become more aggressive, thinking police will not pull them over in that kind of weather.

KSP says they also assist a lot of drivers with broken down cars. They say too often people take vehicles in poor shape on long trips and never make it to their destinations.

Troopers say that if you do speed you're only making your drive more dangerous, not shorter.

They say an average of five to 15 miles per hour over the speed limit will not get you to your location any faster because of the amount of braking drivers have to do.

"Operation Holiday Lights" will continue until the first of the year.
