State Police said speed appeared to be a factor in a single vehicle accident along I-75 in Madison County that sent the driver to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said Brandy E. Compton, 36, of Monticello, was driving south on I-75 on May 26, 2014, near the 73 mile marker, when she lost control of the vehicle and collided with the median wall.

State Police said the 2003 GMC Yukon overturned and that Compton was ejected from the vehicle.

Investigators said Compton was taken to UK Hospital in Lexington with life-threatening injuries.

State Police said no one else was in the vehicle.

Investigators said it didn't appear that Compton was wearing a seat belt.

The accident remained under investigation.
