Justice Dept: Allergies May Be Disability

A recent settlement between the Justice Department and a Massachusetts College may set precedent for food allergies.
The U.S. Justice Department reached a settlement with a Massachusetts college that could set precedent for food allergies being considered a disability.

The settlement may force colleges and restaurants to begin offering alternative foods for people with severe food allergies.

Parents of kids with allergies here in Lexington say this good news and shows how far the nation has come in helping people with severe food allergies, especially in the last two decades.

Most restaurants and schools like UK already facilitate people with allergies, however schools and businesses that do not, may now face law suits unless they change their menus.
