A jury handed down their sentencing recommendation for a Scott County man found guilty of killing his parents.

James Anthony Gray was found guilty of two counts of murder and one count of tampering with physical evidence in the shooting death of his parents, James and Vivian Gray.

Around 3 a.m. Friday, the jury recommended 20 years for each murder conviction and an extra five years for tampering with physical evidence, a total of 45 years in jail.

Gray’s parents were found dead in their home in 2007.

Gray confessed to killing them, but later said he didn’t do it and that his confession was coerced.

This was the second trial for the case. The first trial ended with a mistrial in February of 2012 when the jury couldn’t reach an agreement.

Formal sentencing is scheduled for April.
