Jo's Hope Shelter Running Low

Jo's Hope Shelter Running Low

A Lexington woman needs donations to keep her personal animal shelter up and running.
According to the ASPCA about three million pets have to be euthanized every year.

One Lexington woman is trying to save at least a few of those animals.

Jo Barnes is running an animal shelter out of her home.

Barnes's "Jo's Hope for Kentucky Animals" is a registered non-profit who mostly takes in un-adoptable dogs that illnesses would normally have them euthanized.

Barnes' shelter has been operating for about two years, but says a lack of donations has left her shelter in a dire situation.

She says she needs everything from food to medication to funding for all the animals needs.

She says if she has to shutdown here shelter many of these animals will have no where to go and have to be put down.
