It's 34 years in jail for John Buckley, the man who escaped from Lexington before his rape trial ended.

A judge sentenced Buckley to 30 years for rape and sodomy, and 4 years for bail jumping and tampering with an electronic device.

Buckley led U.S. Marshals on a 10-month manhunt before they captured him in Wyoming.

In court, Buckley said you probably expect me to go away quietly, but that won't happen.

Buckley announced he would not beg for mercy, or ask for leniency.  Instead, he called his rape trial a sham.

"I should have just allowed the Commonwealth to lynch me," Buckley told the judge.

Buckley, a former Army Ranger, admits his transition into civilian life was difficult.

"My lifestyle lacked the moral standing I was raised with, and that my proclivity to sexually perverse women was wrong in the context of being a father and a gentleman," said Buckley.

A jury convicted Buckley of rape and sodomy, but Buckley said he never raped anybody, and then verbally attacked the victim, who was sitting in court.

"She's gotten herself quite a bit of much wanted attention through this process, but she is a willing pawn in a revenge plot," said Buckley.

"He got it of his chest didn't he?  So, that's that," said Ray Larson, Fayette Commonwealth's Attorney.

A jury recommended 20-years for his rape conviction.  The judge sentenced him to 30.

We asked Buckley's dad if he thought the remarks affected the sentence.

"No comment," His dad said.

Buckley's father says they will appeal the sentence.
