A Jessamine County man says was trying to stop a break-in at his neighbors home when he was forced to shoot a man in self defense.

Deputies were called around 1:00pm Tuesday afternoon about a burglary and gunfire on Fort Bramlett Road.

A homeowner told police he had confronted 3 men trying to break in to his neighbors' barn.

He said he shot at the men as they tried to get away in an SUV.

Jessamine County Deputy Anthony Purcell says, "From his statements gathered initially, he felt like he was in danger...that they were coming at him with the vehicle..so he tried to defend himself."

Police say Garrard County Deputies later pulled the SUV over on US 27 and arrested 20-year old Jordan Miller.

They say a second man- Travis Deatherage- had been shot and was taken to UK Hospital.

Police also questioned a juvenile who they say was in the SUV.

So far there are no charges filed against the neighbor.
