He shot and killed a friend in Lexington in 2009.
And Thursday, a judge granted probation to Jamar Mays.
Mays was 16 when he shot Ali Shalash, 17, in a Lexington home. Mays pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter, and always said the shooting was a terrible accident.
As he turned 18, it was up to a judge to give him probation, or require him to continue serving his term in an adult prison.
