A teen was killed in a tractor accident in Jackson County Tuesday evening.

The county coroner said Nicholas Mathis, 18, lost control of his tractor while going down a steep hill on Wolf Pen Branch Road (off of Highway 3630), and went over a ravine around 6 p.m.

He said that caused the tractor to flip on top of the teen.

Mathis was pronounced dead at the scene from internal injuries. The coroner said he didn't believe drugs or alcohol to be a factor.

Mathis had just graduated from Jackson County High School.

Funeral arrangements are pending, but will be held at Lakes Funeral Home in McKee.
