The I-71 SB Bridge over the Kentucky River in Carroll County was closed Thursday night for emergency repairs, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Some bridge joints popped-up, which caused the safety concerns, according to the Transportation Cabinet.

The bridge is located at the 44 mile marker between Carrollton and English Exits.

A rolling road block began at 11:00 p.m.

Engineers estimated a 6-hour closure.

Traffic was detoured to the Markland Dam Exit 55 (KY 1039) to US 42 westbound to KY 55, back to re-enter I-71 SB.
