How You Can Help Raise Money For 'Old Friends' Thoroughbred Retirement Farm

Jockey Rosie Napravnik and Wild Turkey Bourbon are teaming-up to raise money for 'Old Friends' thoroughbred retirement farm in Scott County. Find out how you can help with a simple tweet.
Jockey Rosie Napravnik has teamed-up with Wild Turkey Bourbon to raise money for her favorite charity, 'Old Friends' thoroughbred retirement farm in Scott County.

Wild Turkey is donating $10,000 to the farm.

This is where you come in.

From April 27th right up until the horses break from the gate in Saturday's 140th Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, if you tweet the hashtag #RideWithRosie to @WildTurkey, the company will donate $1 to 'Old Friends' until another $10,000 is reached.

If Rosie wins the Kentucky Derby, Wild Turkey will double the donation to a total of $40,000.

The timing is great for the farm since it has needed additional money to buy some adjoining land to meet the demand to give retired race horses a safe, dignified, comfortable retirement.

Wild Turkey also named a cocktail after Rosie, the Ride with Rosie Julep.

Here's the recipe:
  • 2 oz. Wild Turkey 81
  • 1 oz. Wild Turkey American Honey
  • 1.5 oz. Lemon Juice
  • Mint Sprigs
  • Crushed Ice
Slap the mint springs in the palm of your hand to release oils.  Tear them into pieces and add to a shaker filled with all the other ingredients and ice.  Shake vigorously.  Pour over crushed ice and garnish with a sprig of mint.
