UPDATE: Lexington House Fire Victim Was Former EKU Mathematics Professor

A woman who died in a Lexington house fire over the weekend was a former EKU Mathematics Professor.
A woman who died in a Lexington house fire over the weekend was a former EKU Mathematics Professor.

The Fayette County Coroner said Amy King, 85, died from smoke inhalation and thermal burns at UK Hospital.

According to Lexington Firefighters, King was alone and unconscious Saturday night when crews pulled her out of her burning home on Tates Creek Road.

The Coroner said she died a few hours later.

EKU President Michael Benson said via twitter that King's death was a tragic loss for the school and the entire community.

Firefighters are still trying to figure out how the house fire started.
