In Frankfort a House Committee has okayed a statewide, public indoor smoking ban.

The vote in the House Health and Welfare Committee Thursday was 11 to four.

House Bill 190 would stop smoking in workplaces, restaurants, and bars, statewide.

It's already illegal in many individual cities, including Lexington.

The bill moves on to the full House.

If it passed there, it would have to go to the Senate.

Governor Beshear says he supports the bill.
