Holiday Sales Up More Than Expected

Americans are spending more money than predicted during Christmas of 2011.
Americans are spending more than predicted during the 2011 Christmas season.

The National Retail Federation originally predicted sales would go up 2.8% from 2010 to 2011. But on Christmas Eve, the federation revised that to 3.8%. It also predicted overall sales of $469 billion dollars during the holiday season, which runs from November first to December 31st.

Online sales were projected at almost $32 billion, a 15% increase from 2010.
