The historic courthouse on Main Street in Lexington has closed.

Officials say there are dangerous levels of lead based paint in the building.

The Lexington History Museum, the Lexington Public Safety Museum, and the Kentucky Renaissance Pharmacy Museum are all inside the building.

Officials say a complaint from a volunteer at the Public Safety Museum prompted the investigation.

But they hope to fix the problem as soon as possible.

The building has been around since 1898.
