Thousands of high school basketball fans come out every year for The Touchstone Energy All "A" Classic Tournament.  In 2011, more than 34,000 people packed McBrayer Arena on Eastern Kentucky University's campus.  This year, the tournament moved to the Frankfort Convention Center.

"It has been a wonderful community effort in getting this event here.  Everybody from the city, the Frankfort, Franklin County Tourism, our volunteer program; we all rallied together to bid to get this tournament to Frankfort and we got a 3-year contract," explains Frankfort Convention Center Executive Director Rob Minerich.

The tournament is expected to provide a big economic boost for the city.

"We had a preliminary economic study done and it was right around $1.5 million per year and we're excited for that," says Minerich.

And those who attended the tournament say they're big fans of the new facility.

"I think it's much more comfortable for seating.  I think it's just a good atmosphere.  It seems like a good time here," comments Cindy Wilhoite of Owenton.

"It's just like a circular, a circular stadium.  I can see everything.  Not nothing against EKU where I can't see everything.  I just feel the atmosphere here, ya feel me?" asks Justin Rogers of Bardstown.

"Traffic has been good.  Parking has been great.  The gym is really good, all chair-back seats, and we've had a good time," comments Sharon Brown of West Carter County.

   The tournament continues through Sunday.
