A State Trooper, hailed for bravery 8 years ago, has died.

Ricky Conn died Tuesday at the age of 49.

In 2004, Conn was off-duty when he saved a mother and child from a home that burned after a natural gas explosion.

Conn himself was badly burned during the rescue.

For his heroism, Conn was honored with the Governor's Medal of Valor.

Conn's cause of death has not been revealed.

His funeral will be Friday in Pike County.
