Fire officials are investigating a possible explosion in Perry County. They say several people called to report hearing an explosion and seeing a fire near hazard last night. A helicopter search found some charred trees and but a ground search had to be called off a little after midnight for safety reasons, but it did resume this morning. Officials say it may have been a fire in an abandoned coal mine, which is common and could be the cause of the explosion. No injuries were reported.
