Halters Of Famous Thoroughbreds Up For Auction

Halters Of Famous Thoroughbreds Up For Auction

An eBay auction of famous thoroughbred halters begins this weekend to benefit the Kentucky Equine Humane Center.
Eleven halters from famous thoroughbreds will go up for auction on eBay from December 8-15, just in time for the gift-giving season. The auction is a fundraiser for the Kentucky Equine Humane Center.

Halters include those from Astrology, Intercontinental, Cigar, Storm Cat, Cowboy Cal, To Honor and Serve, Orb, Midnight Lute, Thunder Gulch, Serena’s Song, and Smart Strike.

The Kentucky Equine Humane Center, located in Nicholasville, provides humane treatment and shelter while working as a clearinghouse to seek adoptive homes for Kentucky’s unwanted equines, regardless of breed.

Horses are surrendered to the Center, and staff works with them to improve their health, train them, and then set them up in adoptive homes.  An average of 6-10 horses a month are taken in and adopted out, and it costs approximately $500 per month to care for each horse.

The eBay auction will help raise these much needed funds for the private non-profit, which depends completely on private donations, gifts, special event fundraisers, and auctions like this one.  The Center does not receive any government funding.

To find the halters up for auction, type in the words “KyEHC Thoroughbred Race” in the search box on eBay.  Once the auction goes live, you can also go to the the Kentucky Equine Humane Center website, www.kyehc.org, or their facebook page to find the links.
