Gusty showers and thunderstorms will cross the area today as a strong cold front slides through Kentucky from west to east.  Winds will gust over 30 mph at times.  Temperatures will fall from the 50 early in the day through the 40s and 30s, and eventually into the 20s late tonight.  Many areas will receive 1/2" of rain or more before the colder, drier air arrives.  A few snow flurries may occur this evening or tonight before precipitation totally ends.  High pressure will pave the way for quiet, dry and cold weather on Wednesday with partly sunny skies and highs in the middle 30s.  A weak disturbance passing just to our north may produce a light wintry mix on Thursday, although precipitation amounts will be slim (if at all) as far south as I-64.  We'll have to see exactly how that disturbance tracks.  On Friday into Saturday, a better chance for precipitation will arrive as a disturbance moves from the central US into the Ohio Valley.  Most of that system will bring rain, although a few brief sleet pellets can't be ruled out at the onset of precipitation.  Warmer air will arrive at the end of the weekend into early next week, boosting temperatures into the middle to upper 50s but spotty showers will remain possible in the unsettled weather pattern.
