Gray to Defend Mayoral Office Against Beatty

Incumbent Mayor Jim Gray will take on former Police Chief Anthany Beatty in an attempt to keep his seat as Lexington Mayor in November.
Incumbent Mayor Jim Gray will take on former Police Chief Anthany Beatty in an attempt to keep his seat as Lexington Mayor in November.

If Gray succeeds, he will break a streak of bad luck for previous mayors.

His predecessors, Teresa Isaac and Jim Newberry, were both beaten by their opponents.

Gray's primary focus during his campaign has been the number of jobs he's brought to the area during his time in office, with plans for more jobs in the future.

Beatty, however, believes the city should be safer and that Lexington should concentrate on crime, drugs and violence.

This also brings the mayoral campaign to an end for candidate Danny Mayer, who was a strong proponent of public transportation and connecting Lexington's neighborhoods.
