Several passing motorists called the ABC 36 newsroom Friday night to report a small grass fire near the station's entrance.

The Lexington Fire Department quickly responded and extinguished the flames.

No people, horses or property were threatened.

The cause was unknown, but there was speculation someone may have thrown a lit cigarette out of a vehicle window.
