Governor Beshear Signs School Emergency Allergy Medication Bill

Gov. Beshear has signed a new bill that encourages schools to possess at least two stock epinephrine auto-injectors on campus to treat life-threatening allergic reactions.
Schools across Kentucky are now encouraged to have emergency medications on hand to treat allergic reactions.

House Bill 172 encourages schools to carry two epinephrine auto-injectors, also known as epi-pens. The bill was signed by Governor Beshear Monday afternoon.

The bill originally mandated that schools carry the epi-pens, but legislators changed it to say 'encouraged.'
