Golden Alert Cancelled For Lexington Man

Golden Alert Cancelled For Lexington Man

A Golden Alert has been cancelled for Calvin Collins, 50, after he was found Tuesday afternoon.
A Golden Alert in Lexington was canceled about ten hours after a mentally challenged man wandered away from his home on Old Todd's Road on Tuesday.

Lexington Police said Calvin Collins, 50, of Lexington, was found on the west side of Man O' War Boulevard, north of Richmond Road.

Police said they received several calls from people thinking they had seen Collins.

Investigators said one caller thought they had seen Collins in the Richmond Road-New Circle Road area, but didn't realize the man was the subject of a Golden Alert until they returned home and saw the local news reports.

That led officers to the Bob Evans Restaurant on Richmond Road near New Circle, but apparently they had just missed Collins.

Police said a few minutes later, two other people called 9-1-1 to report seeing Collins on Man O' War and Richmond Road and that's where officers finally found the missing man.

Police said through the course of the day Collins had lost his UK hat and the several long sleeve shirts he was wearing when he went missing.

Police said he was taken to UK Hospital to be treated for heat exhaustion and dehydration.
