Volunteers at God’s Pantry Food Bank in Lexington prepared more than 4,500 Thanksgiving meals Saturday.
It was part of the 10th annual Basket Brigade.
“We continue to see a shrinking of middle class and folks who never need to ask for assistance enter the door of a pantry and ask for help,” said Marian Guinn, God’s Pantry CEO. In a typical month Guinn says they serve around 2,000 families and recently they’ve noticed people who used to donate to the pantry, are now coming to get food instead.
The baskets put together will be handed out to Fayette County families Thanksgiving week.
