It's a sight Dr. Oz would love: a giant colon at the Kentucky capitol. It's all part of a colon cancer awareness rally.

Colon cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in Kentucky, but Governor Steve Beshear says it doesn't have to be that way.

"Colon cancer is treatable and beatable. And not only that, it's preventable," the governor said during the rally. "Screening is critical to early detection and prevention. But not enough people undergo that screening. We made great progress in this area, but we can do so much better."

The governor's proposed budget includes a million dollars for colon cancer screening for the uninsured, to be matched by a million dollars in private donations.
