Have you been wanting to travel to Ireland, but lack the funds to do so? A trip to Danville this week could cure your wanderlust for the Emerald Isle.

Wednesday through Sunday you can enjoy the activities and events of Danville's first ever Irish Festival, which runs in conjunction with Pioneer Playhouse's latest Irish-inspired production, "The Search For Tinker Doyle".

The play stars actor Kieran Cunningham, a native of Ireland and guest star on the hit HBO show "Game of Thrones". Cunningham, who is also a musician, will be featured in Danville's Irish festivities throughout the week, as well.

"The Search for Tinker Doyle" is an original play by Kentucky playwright Elizabeth Orndorff which celebrates Danville's bond with it's Irish sister city, Carrickfergus.

The show runs July 9-July 20, Tuesday through Saturday.

The Irish Festival will culminate with the day long celebration "Irish Party in the Park" on Saturday at Constitution Square which includes food and drink, arts and crafts, kids activities, and music from noon-7 pm.

For more information on the play, you can visit www.pioneerplayhouse.com, and for more information on the festival, you can visit www.danvillekentucky.com.
