Preseason All-American Monty Wilson led seven Tigers in double figures as the defending national champions opened the season with a 129-81 win. The No. 1 Tigers took care of Miami University-Hamilton behind 23 points from Wilson and 20 from Dominique Hagans, a Lafayette High School product.
The Harriers (0-1) made it interesting early in the furious pace, but Georgetown settled down and started to find its crushing offensive play as Noah Cottrill provide a spark with a pair of threes. He finished with 11 on the night.
Jaylen Daniel and Trenity Burdine had good first nights in the Orange & Black with 13 points each. Returners Deondre McWhorter, 15, and DJ Townsend, 12, round out the double-digit scorers.
Montavious Marc did the damage on the boards with 10 rebounds. Hagans was Johnny on the spot multiple times with eight rebounds and McWhorter added eight as well.
Georgetown returns to action against NCAA Division II and future Great Midwest Athletic Conference foe Salem International.
