Gas Leak Reported at Fayette Mall

Police and fire crews were at Fayette Mall in Lexington on Saturday after construction crews hit a gas line, officials said.

According to police, construction crews working on the demolition of the old Sears store hit the line around 11:45 in the morning.

Lexington Police were blocking the entrances to the Fayette Mall parking lots as fire crews investigated.

According to police officials, they did not evacuate the mall, but they were not allowing anyone to enter, as of 1:50 p.m.

Lexington police said Nicholasville Road traffic was at a standstill because of the incident.
