Fundraiser for Young Heart Transplant Recipient

A third grader who underwent a successful heart transplant when he was just 18 months old could be headed to the National Transplant Games in Houston if he raises enough money.

A fundraiser is currently being held at the Chick-Fil-A on Nicholasville Road for Riley Speck, who wants to compete in the games in July.

His goal is to show that since his transplant, he can do the same things everyone else his age can do, from swimming, running, jumping, to doing karate.

The National Transplant Games are set up in the style of the Olympics, but are designed for those who have received organ transplants.

Riley hopes to compete in the track and field, swimming and bowling categories.

The fundraiser for Riley ends today at 8pm.

Another fundraiser for the team will be Saturday, May 31st at the Lexington Legends.
