According to the Franklin County Sheriff, a man who was pulled over for a traffic stop shoved a deputy, had a taser deployed on him and was hit by a police cruiser, but still resisted arrest.

The Sheriff's Office said shortly before 10 Monday night, a deputy had stopped 31-year-old Shanta Bixler at a Gulf Station on East Main to finish a conversation they had started earlier in the evening.

They said Bixler suddenly shoved the deputy and tried to run off, even after a taser was used when Bixler refused to comply.

Bixler reportedly ran into the street and into the path of an oncoming police cruiser, which they said was on its way to help the situation.

The Sheriff's Office said Bixler was hit, as the officer was unable to avoid a collision.

They said Bixler still fought off arrest, but was eventually handcuffed.

An ambulance was called to take him to Frankfort hospital, where Bixler confessed he didn't have a driver's license and that he had been drinking.

He was later lodged in the Franklin County Regional Jail on an $11,235 cash bond.
