Raymonde Jacques has spent most of the past two decades raising as much money as she can to help her homeland of Haiti in any way she can.
Jacques and central Kentuckians have helped build three schools, offer dozens of free medical clinics and even help build new homes for families in the secluded villages in the mountains where Jacques herself was born and raised.
Jacques says now she's working on raising two million dollars to build a permanent medical clinic in the mountains.
She says it could save thousands of lives who would otherwise have to walk for hours to reach the nearest town hospital.
The 67-year old Jacques still travels to the region, often having to walk miles through mountains and crossing wild rivers to get to the region. She says she has no plans on stopping her work, because she says this is not work, but her life's calling.
