A Frankfort man surrendered to police Thursday night after an 11 hour standoff.

59-year-old William Durham was taken into custody just before 10:30pm.

Police say he had a 38 caliber pistol in his apartment.

It all started around 11:45 am when officers were called to Durham's home on Murray Street.

Police say neighbors called to report that a man was acting irrational and strange.

Investigators say Durham was also observed loading a gun.

He refused to come out of his apartment for police.

Officers tried to use a cell phone to make contact with Durham.

They eventually used tear gas to try to get him to surrender.

That's when witnesses say Durham fired at police.

A SWAT team was also brought in to help with the standoff.

Police say Durham was arrested and now faces 3 counts of attempted murder.
