Update:

A Jessamine County man was found dead in his home this afternoon, and investigators suspect foul play.

Sheriff Deputies said family members of Monte Burgess, 49, found him dead inside his home around noon Friday.

Investigators said some of the things inside the home and with the body suggest Burgess’s death wasn’t because of natural causes or a suicide.

Deputies said Burgess was last seen in Nicholasville on Thursday morning.

“He was a stand-up guy,” Burgess’s neighbor said. “He would do anything to help you out. He loved to help people and he was just really sweet, and really funny too.”

No word yet on how Burgess died.

Deputies say he lived alone and was last seen Thursday morning.

So far no arrests in the case.
