Former Somerset Assistant City Parks Director, Eric Whitson, 35, of Somerset, faces federal child pornography charges, according to a report in the Commonwealth Journal Newspaper.

The paper reported Whitson was arrested at his home on Wednesday following a two-week joint investigation by the FBI and the Somerset Police Department.

The paper reported that the investigation began November 5, 2012, after Somerset Police were contacted by a reported victim who said he believed he had found a hidden camera in Whitson's bathroom.

The complaint led to a search warrant at Whitson's home.

The newspaper reported the search warrant led to investigators finding the hidden camera, VHS tapes, DVD's and CD-ROM's with images suspected to be child pornography.

The newspaper reported that not all of the computers seized from Whitson's home had been analyzed yet by investigators.

Whitson was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center in London.

The newspaper reported that Whitson was suspended from his city job after the search warrant was executed and that he had received a letter of termination shortly thereafter.
