Former Lexington Police Officer Sentenced To Prison

Former Lexington Police officer Keith Todd was sentenced to 8-years in prison for driving under the influence and hitting a woman who was walking along the Legacy Trail.
Former Lexington Police officer Keith Todd, 43, was sentenced to 8-years in prison Friday for hitting a pedestrian while driving under the influence.

Police said last March that Todd was likely drunk and on drugs when he hit Penelope Bentley with his Mercedes as she walked along a path on the Legacy Trail with a friend.  The path is not open to vehicle traffic.

Investigators said Todd's blood alcohol level was .084 at the time of the accident.

Todd was charged with DUI and assault.  He pleaded guilty to being under the influence.

Bentley was seriously injured and required surgery.  She continues to recover.
