Former KY Social Worker Sentenced To Prison For Falsifying Abuse Reports

A former social worker is headed to prison for falsifying child abuse and neglect records in Anderson County.
She was supposed to be protecting vulnerable Kentucky children.

Now a former social worker is headed to prison for falsifying child abuse and neglect records in Anderson County.

Margaret 'Geri' Murphy admits she lied in several reports when she wrote that there wasn't evidence of child abuse or neglect.

Prosecutors say in one case, Murphy reported that children in a foster home denied they were abused.

But the kids had in fact given police details of the abuse.

Because of Murphy's report, prosecutors say the children stayed in the home until another social worker filed a complaint, investigated the situation and removed the kids.

Murphy was sentenced to five years in prison.
