There is new information on the charges against a former Franklin County Sheriff's Deputy.

Matt Brown, who previously worked in narcotics for the sheriff's office, was charged with theft and trafficking steroids.

He pleaded not guilty Monday to the charges.

In an indictment, Brown was accused of mishandling more than $25,000 in cash and other items recovered during drug busts.

Investigators said a 2012 audit revealed the discrepancies.

Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton said Brown resigned a short time later.
