Former Breathitt County School Superintendent Arch Turner is due in U.S. District Court in Lexington on Tuesday morning in his vote buying case.

Turner is accused of being part of a scheme to buy votes in the May 2010 primary in Breathitt County.

Turner resigned as school superintendent last May.

Prosecutors said Turner tried to improperly influence a witness; conspired to buy votes; provided cash to buy votes; got a witness to lie; and lied himself to an FBI agent who was investigating the case.

Ten other people have pleaded guilty or have been convicted of taking part in vote-buying in the same election that led to charges against Turner.
