Flood Watch Today, 1" to 2" of Rain Likely

A Flood Watch is in effect across the entire area today and tonight, with 1"-2" of rain likely. Highs will be in the lower 60s in the Bluegrass.
A Flood Watch is in effect across the entire area for today and tonight.

It's a very mild and wet one, with highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s across most of the area, but sharply colder in northern Kentucky.  Soaking rain will accompany an area of low pressure sliding across Kentucky from southwest to northeast.  The heaviest rain will occur in the afternoon and evening, when rainfall totals will likely climb into the 1" to 2" range in most places.  Some minor river flooding is likely on the heels of this system.  Rain will taper off from west to east tonight, and by Friday morning, only a few eastern Kentucky rain or snow showers will remain.  A pair of weak disturbances will cross the area this weekend, producing a few sprinkles or flurries on Saturday, and potentially a few more snow flurries on a colder Sunday.  High pressure will return early next week, and Monday will be partly sunny and dry.  Rain showers and milder air will be our weather headlines on Tuesday evening and into Wednesday of next week.
