More than 20 people are displaced after an apartment fire in Lexington early Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out inside a first floor apartment at the Creekside South Apartments on Devonport Drive.

Officials said seven people had to be rescued from the second floor. They were taken down a ladder from a second story balcony.

Two people were treated on the scene for minor smoke inhalation but no serious injuries were reported.

The Red Cross was called in to assist more than 20 people displaced by the fire.

Firefighters say all of the apartments should be salvageable.
