The Lexington Fire Department wants to reassure people about the city's brownout policy.
It was discussed Monday night at a meeting at Broadway Baptist Church on Harrodsburg Road. Fire stations around town are closing, one day at a time, to save the city money.
On April 19th, a house caught fire, on Sheridan Drive. The nearest fire station was closed, and another one, farther away, had to respond. The fire department says it's taking steps to guard against a disaster.
"We hope that we have alleviated some of the concerns. We want people to know that we're doing everything we can to keep every piece of equipment on duty as long as we can," Battalion Chief Ed Davis told ABC 36 News. "We have a system called automatic vehicle locator, that we'll always sent the closest truck."
The fire on Sheridan Drive was confined to the kitchen, with no one getting hurt.
