A firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling a fire in Berea Monday morning.

Firefighters got the call of a fire at a home off Kenway Road just after 1 a.m.

They said two people lit a fire pit on the back porch when the fire started to get out of control.

Firefighters said the two tried to put the fire out with an extinguisher, but it didn't work. They said the fire spread across the deck and into the attic.

Fire officials said a firefighter fell while working to put out the fire--he was taken to the hospital, but returned later to help put out hot spots.

No one else was injured.

Three rooms of the home were destroyed, according to firefighters, and the rest of the home had smoke and water damage.
